Who We Are
What's Our Story?
Burton Elim Church was formed after a series of tent meetings on the Washlands area of the town, and the church has grown over the last 60-years from meeting in a Tin Hut by the railway to an established church within the town.
The main congregation meets at Moor Street in an old Grade 2 listed Church of England building that many in the town remember as "Christ Church." It has a rich history including being possibly the first building bombed by a Zeppelin, and is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic town centre based congregation with a thriving children's and youth ministry and a contemporary worship style.
Our second congregation meets at Princess Street and was a "plant/relaunch" in 2002 of a Bible Pattern Church called "The Town Mission", and over the last 22 years has grown into a thriving congregation with a more traditional style of worship.
Over the last 15-years, the church has developed a purpose built 2-storey community centre called "The Corner" opposite the Moor Street building that we want to be used for outreach and ministry into our community.
